Sandra Jean Stroud

Sandra Stroud, age 78, passed away on December 25, 2019.  She was born and spent her childhood in Illinois.  Sandra attended Alverno College in Milwaukee Wisconsin where she obtained a degree in nursing and met, Ralph "Jay" Stroud. They were married for over 50 years and spent 40 years in Laurel MD, where they raised their 3 children.  

Sandra worked as a nurse at Suburban Hospital and several local county Health Departments as a school nurse. She volunteered at her children's schools and was active in the Woman's Club of Laurel.  She looked forward to playing bridge every Thursday night with the Laurel Bridge Club.  In retirement, she joined a quilting group and became an avid quilter where she looked forward to her beach week quilting escapes each year.

Sandra loved spending time at the beach and always seemed at peace reading books on the balcony and taking walks along the water.  She enjoyed having family and friends visit her at Ocean City.  Her favorite times where when all the kids and grandkids were together.  She loved teaching the grandkids how to sew, bake and create art projects.  She enjoyed traveling with Jay and they spent much of their free time traveling around the United States attending antique car shows.  

Sandra will be forever loved and missed by neighbors, friends and family.  Sandra is survived by her son Keith Stroud (married to Melinda with children Ashton and Deacon), her daughter Diana Windsor (married to Robert with children, Robby, Tyler, and Julia) her daughter Karen Majeed (married to Shahzad with children Alexander and Isabella), her sister Donna Dusen and brother Mike Buckley.

A Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, January 6, at 11:00 a.m. in the main sanctuary of St. Louis Catholic Parish, Clarksville, 12500 Clarksville Pike. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the charity of your choice or Gilchrist Hospice, 11311 McCormick Rd., Suite 350, Hunt Valley, MD. 21031.
