Robert "Bobby" & Shirley Krakat Obituary

Robert E. Krakat, Sr. (Bobby) of Eldersburg, Maryland died on January 11, 2022 at Carroll County Hospital Center from a long battle with COPD.  He was the husband of Shirley Ann Krakat, who passed earlier that same day.  They were married for nearly 58 years and former residents of Laurel, Maryland.

Bobby was born on October 28, 1945 in Washington, D.C. to Oscar and Dorothy Krakat.  Shortly after his birth they moved to Bowie, Maryland where he was raised.  He retired after over 35 years of service from the United States Soldiers and Airman's Home.  He enjoyed watching the Washington Redskins, New York Yankees, and Nascar.  His favorite memories were visiting his family in Latham, New York as a young man.

Bobby is survived by their three sons, Robert Edward Jr. (Lisa), Donald Allen, and Vincent Ray (Jana); his grandchildren Brock, Marissa, Garrett, Dylan, Sydney, and Erin.  He is also survived by his brother Bill Krakat (Beverly) and cousins Kathy Goldberg and Patty Johnson.

He will be greatly missed by all and remembered as Dad and Papa for years to come.

Shirley Ann Krakat (Coleman) of Eldersburg, Maryland died at her home on January 11, 2022.  She was the wife of Robert E. Krakat, Sr. who also passed later the same day after a lengthy illness.

Shirley was born on July 22, 1949 to Albert and Annie Grace Coleman of Mitchellville, Maryland.  Raised in Bowie, Maryland, she was one of 17 children.  She and Bobby met as childhood neighbors and were married on June 1, 1964.

She is survived by their sons, Robert Edward Jr. (Lisa), Donald Allen and Vincent Ray (Jana); grandchildren Brock, Marissa, Garrett, Dylan, Sydney, and Erin.  She is survived by her brother Albert (Barbara) Coleman and sister-in-law Shirley Hill.  She is predeceased by her brothers Leonard, Vincent, Little Bobby, and many others.

She will be missed greatly by all.  More than a mother or grandmother, but a best friend.  She loved reminiscing about all of her siblings, growing up in old Bowie, and her grandparent's home in Mitchellville.  Her sons, grandchildren, and family gatherings are what she cherished most.
