On October 3, 2021, Robert E. Kuehling passed away peacefully at Maple Hill Assisted Living (Kenwood Care) in Laurel, MD. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Bob was born in Washington, DC on July 2, 1933. He married Margaret (Margy) on November 7, 1953. Shortly after they were married, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return, he earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Ben Franklin University while working full time and raising a family.
During his career, Bob worked at Washington Gas Company, was a partner at Consolidated Maintenance Company and worked at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC from where he retired. Upon retirement, Bob and Margy moved to Colony Cove in Ellenton, Florida where they lived for the next 27 years. They returned to Maryland in August 2019 due to his illness.
Bob was an avid hunter throughout most of his life. Many weekends he could be found in the woods in Western Maryland or West Virginia with Daisy, his dog, and his many hunting friends.
Bob and Margy started the RV life in 1977. They met many lifelong friends through their extensive travels and were very active in two RV clubs. After two trailers and four motor homes, Bob hung up his keys in December 2016.
Bob is survived by his wife, Margaret Kuehling and his three children, Leslie Krainak (Michael), Lorrie Ryan (William) and Robert E. Kuehling, Jr. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren; Daniel Krainak (Linda), Diane Reider (Brad), Megan Ryan (David Gass), Ann Marie Zeruto (Ed), Colleen Sumner (Zachary), Kerry Potolicchio (Michael), Molly Diaz (Tezcatli), Grace Kuehling, Shawn Kuehling and Maggie Kuehling and his great-grandchildren; Frances, Charles and Joan Krainak; Lettie and Mac Reider; Maria Zeruto; Perry and Rose Sumner; Wynne Potolicchio; Alexander and Itzel Diaz.
Bob was predeceased by his mother, Hallie Hester, his father, William F. Kuehling and his brother, William F. Kuehling, Jr.
A Memorial Mass will be offered on Monday, October 11, @ 11:00 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Fulton, MD. We kindly ask that facemasks be used.
