Robert C. “Bob” Arterburn, husband of Lin Arterburn, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 16, 2022 after an extended struggle with Alzheimer’s.
Bob and Lin lived for 36 years in Wisconsin Rapids, where they raised their children Todd, Scott and Amy (Arterburn) Rodriguez, all of whom attended Lincoln High School.
Bob had a lifelong love of sports, especially baseball, and was a volunteer executive with the local Twins affiliate and the Class A Midwest League (and Executive of the Year in 1979). Knowing how low-paid the ballplayers were, he and Lin hosted a series of Twins as summer residents in their own home. Bob was the Wisconsin Rapids Chamber of Commerce’s Co-Citizen of the Year in 1992, and was also President of South Wood County 2000, where he was instrumental in raising millions of dollars for the construction of the ice hockey rink on 16th Street and various other sports and arts projects for the benefit of Wisconsin Rapids.
Bob and Lin first came to Wisconsin Rapids in 1976 as a Vice President at Wood County National Bank, and then served as VP/GM of the Mead Inn for 11 years, retiring in 1993. He was a regular golfer at Bulls Eye Country Club, where despite his admitted mediocrity in the sport, he managed to card three holes-in-one.
Lin now lives in Cooksville, Maryland, where she enjoys time with 8 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Bob and Lin were active members of Grace Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids for 30 years, where in lieu of flowers a donation in Bob’s name can be made, or to the Alzheimer’s Association of America.
