On April 13, 2020, Peter B. Holguin, age 84, passed away, with his wife Sylvia at his side after a battle with Leukemia.
After serving his tour of duty in the Army in 1961 Peter continued to pursue his education at Texas State University (TSU) at San Marcos, Texas. After receiving his BS degree from TSU, Peter went on to teach at several high schools in Texas. He then returned to continue his studies towards his Master’s Degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Peter was also on the school’s Tennis team as captain and won several individual awards. Peter had an outstanding and lengthy career with the governmental Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in Washington, D.C. and retired a few years ago.
Family was always very important to Peter. Even though he didn’t have any children, he frequently kept in touch and/or visited with his many siblings who mostly all lived in his home state of Texas.
Peter is survived by his wife Sylvia and his four siblings, Hortense, Lucille, Josephine and Omar, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Carlos R. Holguin and Mrs. Sophie E. Holguin, his sister Martha, two brothers, Louis and Albert.
Plans for interment are currently being made as per Peter’s request to be buried in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. Final plans are slow in coming due to restrictions and guidelines of the Virus Pandemic.
