Meda Lorraine Heller

Meda Lorraine Heller (nee Elliott), 94, of Columbia, Maryland, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2023.
 

Mrs. Heller is survived by her three children: Frank E. Heller, Christine Amburn, and Sue Riedel; five grandchildren: James, Bradley, Gary (Sarah), Todd (Rachel), and Maggie; and four great-grandchildren: Matthew, Bailey, Benjamin, and Charlotte. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank Heller, who passed in 2016.

Mrs. Heller grew up in Rockville with her mother and father—later meeting her future husband Frank “Buddy” at a roller-skating rink. Buddy and “Butch”—as she was affectionately known—settled in Silver Spring to raise their family. While a stay-at-home mom, Mrs. Heller was also a school crossing guard and worked at her Aunt Lillian’s restaurant, Crisfield.

Mrs. Heller was an avid reader, gameshow enthusiast, and enjoyed spending time with her family that included yearly trips to Rehoboth Beach. She also loved shopping and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren—as evidenced by the sea of presents at her Christmas Eve dinners. Her family will greatly miss her generosity, kindness, and companionship. 

In honor of her love for dogs, the family encourages donations to an animal rescue organization of your choosing.
