Lydia Solis the Matriarch of Our Family was born on June 7, 1943. She passed away on November 22, 2020 at the age of 77 at the Adventist White Oak Medical Center as she fought hard for her life and was surrounded by her family and friends.
She married Maximino “Maxie” Solis, the love of her life in July 1966 who preceded her in death on March 7, 2019 along with her beautiful daughter Michelle Solis Hoepfl on February 9, 2003.
Lydia decided to be a hair dresser at an early age and attended the Jane Adams Vocation High School and graduated in 1961. She started her career working in New York and worked in DC after she moved with her family to Alexandria, VA. She later opened up a small hair salon with her dear friend in Sterling, VA. She decided to make a change and moved to the Christie Adam Salon in Great Falls, VA where she worked for over 20 years up until she passed. She loved to cut and style hair and made great friends at the salon.
One word to describe Lydia is a “GIVER”, she loved to give to all of her family and friends, and she would give even when she had to make her own sacrifices. She had many friends and loved her family dearly especially her grandchildren. She would go anywhere to support any activity. She would visit her son every Sunday for Sunday dinners and haircuts.
Lydia is survived by her son Michael Solis and her five grandchildren, Anthony Solis, Zach Hoepfl, Lexie Hoepfl, Dominic Solis and ”Lil” Max Solis. She was also survived by her cousins Rosemary, Ralph, Nina and Juan who she grew up with like siblings.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to all the family and friends for their love and support as well as the doctors and nurses who took care of Lydia during her last few weeks.
