Lawrence Preston Rub, affectionately known as Larry, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2023, in Columbia, Maryland. Born on September 17, 1950, in Los Angeles, California, Larry was a beloved father, husband, and friend to many.
Larry was the cherished son of Adele Rothstein-Rub and Saul Rub. He was a devoted husband to Janice Rub and a loving father to his four children, Anika Robertson (Derek), Philip Rub (Kristen), Brittany O'Branski (Tim), and Elise Gonski (Dan). He was a doting Zayde to his seven grandchildren, Preston and Hudson Rub, Liam and Isabelle Robertson, Greyson and Charlotte Gonski, and Kinsley O'Branski, and a host of other relatives. Larry was a pillar of strength and love for his family, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
Larry was a proud alumnus of Cal State Fullerton, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics. His passion for design and structure led him to pursue an Architecture degree from Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz, California. Larry's education laid the foundation for his successful career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and entrepreneur. His analytical mind, coupled with his creative spirit, enabled him to build several businesses from the ground up. Callahan's Seafood Bar and Grill being one of his most cherished.
Throughout his career, Larry was known for his creativity and hard work. His analytical mind was always at work, whether he was solving complex business problems or strategizing his next move in a game. Larry's entrepreneurial spirit was admired by many, and his business acumen was a testament to his success.
Larry was a man of many interests. He was an avid collector, a hobby that brought him great joy and satisfaction. His love for gaming was infectious, often leading to friendly competitions with family and friends. Larry was also a passionate sports fan, always ready to cheer on his favorite teams, The Baltimore Ravens and Orioles. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
In remembering Larry, we celebrate a life well-lived. His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His family and friends will remember him as a loving father, a devoted husband, a successful entrepreneur, and a man who lived his life with passion and purpose.
Please join the family for a celebration of Larry's life, which will be held Monday, August 14, 2023, at Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A., 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029. Memorial service beginning at 4:00pm followed by gathering of friends.
