Joyce Somerville, age 88, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2020 in her home in Clarksville, MD.
Her viewing/visitation will be held at Donaldson Funeral Home in Clarksville on Tuesday December 6, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held immediately after, with burial following at Emanuel Methodist Church in Scaggsville at 12:15p.m.
Joyce was born to Goldie Hall and William-Andrew Merson on June 16th, 1932. She attended Elkridge High School, where she graduated at age sixteen. In 1950, at the age of 18, she married George Somerville at Savage Hall. She worked as a homemaker most of her life and enjoyed her work on the farm and tending her huge, beautiful garden in the summertime. When her children reached school age, she worked in their school cafeteria, eventually taking a job working at an insurance company for a few short years, and then finally ended up a homemaker again.
Joyce is preceded in death by her Mother; Goldie Merson, her Father; William-Andrew Merson, her Son; David Somerville, her Daughter-in-law; Connie Somerville, and her Brothers; Junior Somerville, Sonny Somerville, Clarence Somerville, and Francis Somerville.
Joyce is survived by her brother; Wayne Merson, her Daughter; Elaine Mitchell, her four Grandchildren; Breanna Terry, Lorrie Somerville, Shannon Mitchell, and Melinda Healy, her Great Grandchildren; Ashley Sampson, Austin Eagle, Andrew Eagle, Dominick Terry, Savannah Terry, Addison Mitchell, and Jackson Mitchell, and finally her Great-Great Grandchildren; Scarlytt Sampson, Sawyer Sampson, and another on the way.
Pallbearers will be Austin Eagle and Andrew Eagle, Georgie Giddings and Dickie Giddings, Shannon Mitchell, and Chris Sampson.
The families of Somerville, Mitchell, Terry, Eagle, and Sampson wish to extend our sincere thanks to the Giddings Family, Donaldson Funeral Home and Emmanuel Methodist Church.
