On Thursday, September 3rd, 2020, John M. DeMarco, Jr. passed away peacefully at Lighthouse Assisted Living in Ellicott City, Md... He was a loving husband, father, son, uncle, grandfather and friend.
He was born on May 24, 1934 in Washington, DC to John M. DeMarco, Sr. and Bernardine C. (Isabella) DeMarco.
John served his Country honorably in the US Army Reserves for 28 years retiring with the rank of Lt. Colonel.
John was a graduate of St. John’s military school in Washington, DC in 1953 and a 1957 graduate of Georgetown University where he played on Georgetown’s 1955 undefeated football team and participated in their Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program.
John’s 40 plus-year career began at the National Security Agency at Ft. Meade, Md; General Services Administration in Washington, DC; the Social Security Administration at Woodlawn, Md., Hughes Corporation and Raytheon Technologies in Landover, Md., before retiring at the age of 70 in 2004.
John is survived by his three children Christine, John III, and William and five grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife Mary F. DeMarco.
John enjoyed working around his house but John’s greatest passions were his family, coaching his kid’s sports teams in Calverton, Md. during the 70s, 80s, 90s, watching movie westerns followed closely by rooting for his beloved Dallas Cowboys.
Interment with his beloved wife will be held graveside on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 8:45 a.m. at the Arlington National Cemetery.
