Heber D. Bouland
Obituary
Heber D. Bouland of Columbia, Maryland, died peacefully at home on July 23, 2022 at age 94. Born April 23, 1928 in Washington, D.C. he was the son of the late T. G. Bouland and Epsie Wilkins Bouland.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores M. Bouland, sons Dean Bouland, Daniel Bouland (Sue) and Robert Bouland (Linda); grandchildren Tyler Bouland (Melissa), Kelli Bouland Brown (Kevin), Adam Bouland (Alison), Sara Bouland Giedraitis (Kevin) and Andrew Bouland (Karrah); great-grandchildren Zoe, Kai, Kea, Koa, Madison, Connor, and Adeline; sister Joanne McFarland; sister-in-law Joyce Ortner; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas G. Bouland, Jr.
As an engineer with a master’s degree from George Washington University, Heber spent most of his career in public service. After retiring from the U. S General Accountability Office he continued to work in the philanthropic arena. He also found time for writing and artistic passions yielding two books and various awards for portrait and landscape paintings. Heber and his wife of 70 years, Dolores, enjoyed an active life as world travelers and enthusiastic line dancers.
Interment private. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Sligo Seventh-day Adventist Church, 7700 Carroll Avenue, Takoma Park, MD 20912 (Greenwood Avenue entrance).
