Gerald Lee “Jerry” Cauble, 68 of Bethesda, Maryland passed away on September 19, 2021. He was born December 25, 1952, in Sandy Spring, Maryland. As a Christmas baby, he may have felt slighted when it came to opening gifts, but he never complained! After graduating from Paint Branch High School, Jerry joined the U.S. Army. While enlisted, he received the National Defense Service Medal for Marksmanship.
After a tragic accident that left him paralyzed, he was honorably discharged from service. Jerry went on attend Montgomery College, where he earned as Associate of Arts degree in accounting. His love for mathematics and numbers was always evident, even carrying over to his hobbies: a good game of cards, betting on horses, or a fierce game of chess often completing his day. He also loved the water and was always ready for a fishing trip or a chance to eat crabs with friends and family. Jerry will be remembered as a great storyteller, as well, with a witty comeback for almost any conversation. He liked to see others smile. His hope was to “die young as late as possible”, and that he did: he was young in both heart and spirit.
Jerry is survived by his brother, Arthur “Artie” and his wife, Janet; his sister, Wanda and her husband, Mike; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, William “Bill”; mother, Marian; and brother, Frederick “Fred” Cauble.
A graveside service will be held, Wednesday, October 13, 11:00 a.m. at Union Cemetery, 3001 Spencerville Road, Burtonsville, Maryland 20866.
