Dolores Marguerite Parrish (Gallizzo), 87, of Ellicott City, passed into the hands of the Lord on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Born April 7, 1933 in New Rochelle, New York, Dolores was the daughter of the late Pasquale J. Gallizzo and Rose Marie Gallizzo (Santorsola). Dolores was raised in the Baltimore area, graduating from Ascension Catholic School, Seton High School, and business college. Dolores went on to work for Kaiser Aluminum before marrying and raising her children, after which she returned to the workforce. In 1995 she retired from the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab where she was the Coordinator of the Warfare Analysis Lab.
Dolores had many passions, including golf, garden club, book club and cooking. She was very active in her Catholic faith, frequently attending prayer meetings and bible studies in addition to regular mass. She dedicated her time to numerous charities, volunteering at local youth retreats and soup kitchens. She loved to entertain, and frequently hosted gatherings — large and small — that featured only the best Italian dishes.
Dolores left a legacy as the matriarch of the family. She was a devoted sister, mother, aunt and grandmother, as well as a dedicated, loving friend. She is survived by her two brothers, Robert Gallizzo (Rita) and Thomas Gallizzo (JoAnn) as well as her four children, Andrew Parrish (Barbara), Patricia Flott (Drew), Lisa Sharafinski (Doug) and Michele Hertel (Ken). She was adored and will be missed greatly by her fourteen grandchildren: Tom, Andrew, Caitlin, Joe, Sean, James, Lindsay, Michael, Maria, Mariana, Matthew, Katherine, Maeve and Arianna, as well as her three great-grandchildren, Hannah, Avery and Lily.
