Amelia (Millie) was born in Washington, D.C., grew up in Maryland suburbs and graduated from Regina High School in 1959. At age 18 she started working for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) then married Charles Gorgone on October 7, 1961, and started their family. After raising her family, she decided to return to the work force as a federal government employee at the Department of Health and Human Services in Rockville, Maryland, where she retired in December 1998.
Millie was a genuine, kind, and caring person. She always thought of others never thinking of herself. She donated to many organizations that she felt strongly about. She lit up a room with her beautiful smile and had a wonderful sense of humor practicing on our dad. She touched so many people’s lives whether she knew them or not. Millie enjoyed being a mother and a grandmother. She loved cooking, shopping, crocheting, knitting, and reading a good romance novel. She loved eating sweets in the middle of the night. She celebrated each holiday to the extreme. She was the glue that kept our family together. There is so much to say about Millie but we can all admit that she left us with wonderful memories. She will be deeply missed.
