It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Thomas Joseph Cotter, on February 3,2022, at age 83, in his home in Ellicott City, MD. He was born to Michael and Nora Cotter on March 25, 1938 in the Bronx, NY. After graduating from Iona College, he married his loving wife, Mary Bedell. Tom and Mary moved to Maryland in 1971 where he continued his 35 year career at Moore Business Forms. Tom had a stellar career at Moore, winning salesman of the year multiple times.
Tom spent his retirement years as a volunteer at Sarah’s House serving the homeless. He loved playing golf, spending time on the beach in Bethany, rooting on the Fighting Irish as Notre Dame’s biggest fan, and being surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Tom will be remembered for his dedication to his faith, devotion to his family, and generosity to everyone he met.
Tom is predeceased by his wife Mary and his daughter Laurie. He is survived by his son George Cotter (Jean), daughters Jeanne Dunkleberger (Steve), Kathleen Hartwick (Bob), Colleen Spedding (Jim), eleven grandchildren, Tommy Cotter, Patrick Cotter, Laurie Owen Bacon (Chris), Megan Cotter, Kaitlyn Owen, Bobby Hartwick, Connor Spedding, Mary Kate Hartwick, Shannon Spedding, Nick Hartwick, Kasey Hartwick, his three sisters Mary Ward, Barbara Heber (Johann), Noreen Sloan, and his goldendoodle, Riley.
Visitation will be held on February 11th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A., 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 12th at 10:00 am at Georgetown Preparatory School Chapel, 10900 Rockville Pike, North Bethesda, MD 20852. Interment following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20906.
