Sunder S. Sathyasheelappa

Sunder Singh Sathyasheelappa, devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away on July 2, 2019 at the age of 80. Sunder was born on November 25, 1938 to the late Saramma and Pastor Rangappa Sathyasheelappa in Kollegal, India. He was the youngest of seven children. Sunder married Pramila Dayak on August 26, 1968 in Bangalore, India. He emigrated to the United States just 4 months later in December and Pramila joined him in the United States in January of 1970. Their 50 years of marriage were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Sharmila and Savitha.

After graduating from Lowry Memorial High School, he went on to attend Spicer Memorial College in India to study Business. Sunder’s career as an accountant spanned 35 years and he retired in 2005. However, tennis was Sunder’s true passion and he was an exceptional player, winning several local tournaments. He also enjoyed watching tennis and football and he was a loyal Washington Redskin fan.

Sunder loved hosting family and friends along with his late wife, Pramila, and together they opened their home freely to all. He spent his days in retirement doing the things he loved most...gathering with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren; playing Make a-Million; taking daily walks; and strengthening his faith through reading, study and fellowship.

Sunder is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Sharmila & Prospero Roda and Savitha & Phillip Galenkamp; grandchildren, Jaiden and Kiran Roda; sister, Jane Daniel; and a host of nephews, nieces, in-laws and friends.

Family and friends are invited to join the Sathyasheelappa family on Saturday, July 6, 2019 from 6 – 8 pm at the Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A. 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, Maryland 21029.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 7 at 11 am at the Spencerville Seventh-day Adventist Church, 16325 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland 20905.

The Committal service will immediately follow at Union Cemetery, 3001 Spencerville Road, Burtonsville, Maryland 20866.

A Repast will follow at Spencerville Seventh-day Adventist Church fellowship hall.
