Sheila Jean Hutton

Sheila Jean Hutton, 93, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026, at Arbor Terrace in Fulton, Maryland.

Born on January 11, 1933, in Cumberland, Kentucky, Sheila was the beloved daughter of Annie Lee and Daniel Horton Robinson. Her Kentucky roots shaped her early years with a strong sense of family, faith, and perseverance.

Sheila graduated from Eastern High School in 1950, where she formed friendships that lasted her entire life. She cherished her classmates and attended high school reunions for more than fifty years, always delighted to reconnect and reminisce.

On September 20, 1951, Sheila married Edgar T. Hutton at Seventh Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland, beginning a devoted partnership grounded in faith and service. As a pastor’s wife, Sheila supported Edgar’s ministry with grace and steadfastness. While raising her daughters, she served as the church secretary, balancing her responsibilities with unwavering dedication. At home, she lovingly took on all the cooking, cleaning, and sewing for her family, always with a positive attitude that uplifted everyone around her.

Later in life, Sheila worked as an executive secretary at Farm Credit, where she was admired for her professionalism, reliability, and warm spirit. Her colleagues remembered her as someone who brought calm, kindness, and order to every task.

Family was the heart of Sheila’s life. She is survived by her daughters, Nina Hutton Pryor (Gary) of Centreville, Virginia, and Joyce Hutton Mady (Walter) of Ellicott City, Maryland; her grandchildren Amanda Pryor, Rebecca Samuel (Peter), Rachael Brown (Taylor), and Bridgette Mady; and her great‑grandchildren Phoebe and Liza Samuel. She cherished each of them deeply and celebrated their milestones with pride and joy.

Sheila is pre‑deceased by her husband, parents, and siblings Daniel N. (Buddy) and Larry Robinson.

Sheila created countless treasured memories during summers spent with her children and grandchildren in Ocean City, Maryland, a place filled with tradition, laughter, and love. Her sense of adventure also led her overseas — including a year living in Oxford, England, a holiday in Paris, France with her daughters, brother, and sister‑in‑law, and a memorable vacation in Hawaii.

Beginning in 2002, Sheila celebrated her birthday each year with her two daughters. They enjoyed live shows, movies, fine dining, and outlet shopping. These celebrations took them to Broadway in New York, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Annapolis, Maryland, and Columbia, Maryland. These outings became treasured traditions filled with laughter, adventure, and shared joy.

Known for her thoughtfulness, Sheila regularly sent cards to friends, family, and acquaintances for every occasion. Her gentle gestures of kindness touched many lives and became one of her most enduring trademarks.

Sheila’s life was defined by faith, devotion, and quiet strength. She approached every responsibility with love, every challenge with optimism, and every relationship with generosity. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the friendships she sustained, and the countless acts of kindness she offered throughout her life.

The family is still determining plans for a memorial gathering.
