Sharon Elaine Sealock, a longtime resident of Columbia, Maryland, passed away on February 12 after a courageous battle with multiple illnesses over the previous year. Sharon was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to Robert and Elsie Haus. She grew up in Beltsville, Maryland, and graduated from High Point High School in 1957. During her teen years, she enjoyed a dazzling range of interests – as a talented artist, she illustrated the school newspaper and yearbook, while as a skilled markswoman, she won multiple shooting competitions. Following graduation, she joined the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as a computer specialist, where she worked with the early plugboard computers and, eventually, punched card entry machines. She left this position after marrying Noah Arnold Sealock Jr. to become a full-time homemaker. However, she would later apply her artistic creativity and gardening expertise in occasional employment at local nurseries, where she would cultivate and tend to plants and craft in-demand decorative items to sell to customers. Sharon is survived by her husband Noah, with whom she would have celebrated her 57th wedding anniversary two days after her death; her beloved son Robert (Miriam), of whom she was immensely proud; and her adored grandsons Noah, Robert, and Benjamin, with whom she shared not only her wonderful sense of humor, but also her love of long hikes on nature trails, challenging board games, and new adventures of all kinds. She is also survived by her sister Sandra Haus Grady and sisters-in-law Grace Fischetti (James), Bertie Johanning, Mary Frances Priscilla, and many dear nieces and nephews who brought her much joy over the years. Her sisters-in-law Joan Bellofatto (Joseph) and Margaret Davis preceded her in death. Sharon was a treasured bright light to her family and will be immeasurably missed.
