Salvatore Joseph Nicotra

February 20, 1945 — August 7, 2018

Cleveland, Tennessee

Salvatore Nicotra passed peacefully into eternal life with Jesus on Tuesday, August 7th, 2018 after a brief but valiant battle with ALS. Born to Venerando and Rosaria Nicotra in Queens, NY. Beloved husband of Lynda (Storm), brother of Alfio (Anita) Nicotra, Angela (Jerry) Mauro, brother in law of Larry (Carol), Lloyd & Loretta Storm.

Father and Dad to Venerando (Jeanie) Nicotra, Barbara Jeanne (Larry) Hirsch, Jerriann (Steve) Trageser, and Dean (Lisa) Collier.  Grandpa and Nonnu to Nicholas (Gianna) & Tomas Nicotra, Ethan and Amy Trageser, Ezekiel and Gracen Collier and Great Grandfather of Mason Nicotra.

Sal grew up in a close Sicilian American family in E Northport, NY and worked as an electrician for IBEW Local 3.  In the early 70's, he moved to MD where he met the love of his life, Lynda.  Together they renovated a historic home in Laurel and Lynda operated Storm Interiors and Abba Design with Sal as her right-hand man.  In the 1980's they moved to Cleveland, TN to attend bible college.  There they renovated a building downtown, near Lee University, into student housing where countless young people were affected by his positive influence.

He and Lynda were long time members of Living Word Church where they made lifelong friends too innumerable to name but whom he held dear to the end and who were a great source of help and comfort to him, Jerriann, and his family in his final weeks.

Sal was a master carpenter and all-around construction expert and was the one to call for help with any home improvement or other problem.  He was a mentor and father figure to many. If Sal could not help you himself, he would always find another way to offer his assistance.  He loved the Lord with all his heart, soul, and mind.  He had a true servant's heart and was willing to help point others to Jesus.  His passion for mentoring men was apparent through his starting a men's prayer breakfast in 1996 where he impacted countless men in their spiritual walk and journey.  He has left many spiritual sons behind and will one day be reunited with them.

His love for his wife, family, friends, and good food were unparalleled, and his devout faith was a blessing to us all.  He was greatly loved by all who knew him, and he will be sorely missed.  In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Sal's name to The ALS Foundation.
