Ronald Lee Hines

Ronald L. Hines, longtime resident of Howard County, died peacefully on Monday, June 19, 2023.

Ronney is survived by his son and daughter in law, Kevin and Nadine Hines; his sister and brother in law, Susan and John Nelson, his grandchildren, Samantha and Steven Hines. He is predeceased by his wife, Emma Margaret Hines and his mother, Evelyn Margaret Hines Hobbs. Ronney’s family and friends were his first priority and he was always there for all those he loved.

Born in Scaggsville, MD on December 13, 1941, Ronney enjoyed a wonderful childhood with a close-knit family working the hayfields and raising cattle. He graduated from Howard High School in 1959 and following graduation, he worked at two family owned gas stations and loved working on and racing cars. He was very active in Howard County 4H in his younger years and continued to support 4H until his passing.

On August 18, 1962, he married Emma “Pat” Hines and in January, 1963, they welcomed their only child, Kevin R. Hines to their family.

Ronney earned his master licenses in HVAC and electric and worked for Minnick’s Heating and Air Conditioning in Laurel. In 1978, Ronney started his own HVAC company, Ron Air, Inc. which continues to be a well-respected, family-owned business proudly serving the community.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

A viewing will be held Friday, July 7 at Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A., Clarksville, MD from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm.

A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, July 8 at 11am at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Scaggsville, MD with a burial and luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Howard County 4H, The Michael J. Fox Foundation or Parkinson's Foundation of the National Capital Area.
