Roland (Rod) Hugh Miller Iii

Roland H. Miller III, better known as Rod, passed away at Howard County Hospital on January 30, 2021 due to complications related to cancer, with his wife of 54 years, Kathy, by his side. He was born on June 6, 1944 (D-Day) to Roland H. Miller and Marjorie E. Miller.  He is survived by his mother and his two sisters, Teresa Miller and Susan Rumford.  He was the husband of Kathleen Miller and father to Roland H. Miller IV (Skip) and Laura Miller, daughter-in-law Stephanie Miller and grandchildren Roland H. Miller V (Roddy) and Elizabeth Miller (Lizzy) and many nieces and nephews.

In 1966, Rod married his wife, Kathy, and began his career at the General Accounting Office (GAO).  While working at GAO, Rod made many friends, some of whom have remained close for many years.  He retired from GAO in 2000.   After each friend retired, they formed a Gentleman’s Club, where they would get together to enjoy wine and food and just be together.  Rod and Kathy enjoyed hosting parties and dinners and sharing their love of wine with their friends.

They also loved to travel with friends and family to destinations in the US, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. The trips Rod loved and cherished the most were those spent traveling with his children and grandchildren, the last of which was a trip to Hawaii in 2016 to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.  Rod also loved antique cars and owns a 1950 Studebaker Commander.

Family and Friends may visit Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A. 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville MD 21029 on Monday February 8th from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 8:00pm. Due to Covid-19 restrictions the Funeral service on Tuesday February 9, will be by invitation only. Private interment following at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens.
