Reequeetha Michelle (Brent) Butler

January 22, 1974 — January 5, 2020

Columbia

Reequeetha Michelle Butler, 45, of Columbia, Maryland, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on January 5, 2020. She was born in 1974 to Ann Katzoff and Selma Brent in Birmingham, Alabama, where she was a member of the First Baptist Montevallo Park Church , and was baptized by her grandfather, Reverend Selma Brent.

“Quee” or “Michelle”, as she was known by family and friends, grew up in Laurel, Maryland.  She graduated from St. Vincent Pallotti High School, and went on to attend Prince George’s County Community College.  After college, she spent fifteen years working  in a medical office, specializing in medical billing. After leaving that job, she took a position with the Prince George’s County Department of the Environment, where she worked until her untimely passing.  Her co-workers describe her as a shining light in the office with a wonderful sense of humor who touched many people.

Michelle enjoyed dancing, swimming, and relaxing on the beach.   She loved dabbling with hair and make-up.  Most of all, however, she loved her family, particularly her daughters.  But her dog Meeko,  a shih tzu – poodle mix who was fiercely protective of her, was not far behind.  Michelle had a beautiful smile that lit up the room.  She brought joy to her family, her friends, and all of those around her.

She is survived by husband Jeffrey Butler, children Joann Brent and Jaria Butler, stepsons Jamar Butler and Juwan Butler, granddaughter Keiora, parents Ann and Howard Katzoff and Selma Brent, sister Alex Palmer, grandparents Luke and Marie O’Neal, aunts Andree Frisco, Kimberly McKinley, Janice Washington, and Linda Sparks, uncle Larry Brent, cousins, and friends.
