Our dear Mr. Rajan Thambi took his last breath on Friday, November 28, 2025, with his son by his side.
Born on January 29, 1955, in Jabalpur, India, to Late Dharam Raj Thambi and Kamala Thamby. He attended Spicer Memorial College in Pune, India, where he majored in Theology and studied Modern Indian History and Education.
After completing his studies, Rajan began his career in Kunthi, India. It was during this time that he was introduced to a young woman, Balkis Matthews. They were married on December 28, 1980, in Jalandhar, India.
Rajan and Balkis dedicated their marriage to serving the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, working in various locations including Kunti, Bahraich, Lucknow, Jalandhar, and Hapur. Rajan served as a school principal in Bahraich, Jalandhar, and Hapur, where his visionary leadership consistently transformed struggling schools into flourishing institutions. After 27 years of faithful service, the family immigrated to the United States in 2005, along with their son and daughter.
In the United States, Rajan worked for a granite company, quickly becoming an expert on marble and stone. He built strong friendships with his colleagues and was admired for his cheerful spirit. He was also a devoted member of the Chastatee Church, serving as an elder, Sabbath School teacher, speaker, and a dedicated volunteer in the church’s community garden.
Rajan will be remembered for his captivating storytelling, warm sense of humor, and his gift for bringing joy to others. He was always ready to lend a hand and was the person many turned to for guidance—no matter the need.
He is survived by his loving wife, Balkis; his son, Alcuin; his daughter, Cynthia, and son-in-law Sumesh; his mother, Kamala; his brothers Vinod and Ramesh; his sister Sheila; and a large circle of extended family and friends whose lives he touched deeply.
