Norman P. Miller "Pap Pap"

Norman P. Miller, “Norm”, age 88, passed away on March 23, 2026. Born on November 15, 1937, to Ruth and Harold Miller. He was raised in Mahanoy City, PA, a small coal mining town. As a young man, Norman developed a love for camping and the outdoors. Oftentimes his father had to go find him in the woods and tell him to come home for school. His early education was provided by the Gray Nuns of the Sacred Heart, and he cherished his time as an altar boy at St. Canicus Church. Norman enlisted in the Navy and served on the USS Saratoga. 

Norman was married to his wife Marie for 63 years. Norman enjoyed riding Motorcycles with his sons, being a football coach and a Boy Scout Leader. 

Norman attended night school to earn a bachelor's degree in criminal justice while he worked for the Baltimore County Police. “Stormin Norman” achieved the rank of Lieutenant and trained many police recruits in Martial Arts, self-defense and weapons training at the police academy in Towson, MD during his tenure with the Baltimore County Police Force. He then took a position with the National Security Agency until he retired at age 62. 

Norman and Marie moved from Dundalk to a waterfront property on Sue Creek, where they purchased a boat and enjoyed cruising the Chesapeake Bay and taking many day trips to Hart Miller Island.Norman was a part of the FOP Fraternal order of Police and was a devoted member of St. Joseph and St. Louis Catholic Church.

Norman is predeceased by his wife; Marie, his parents; Ruth and Harold, his brother; Donald and grandson; Scott.

Norman is survived by his children, Roxann Gordon, Christopher Miller and Matthew Miller. His grandchildren; Rebecca Galinat, Justin Gordon, Jacob Gordon, Robert Rychalski, Michael Miller, Rachel Miller, Josh Miller, Seth Miller, Joanna Nuno, Emily Miller, Sean Miller, Lindsey Miller and Mike Teller. 

To his 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren he was affectionately known as “Pap Pap”. In his later year’s weekly visits from Rebecca and great granddaughters Charlotte, Quinn and Nora were the highlight of his days.
