Nancy L. Kornick

May 4, 1938 — September 8, 2022

Mt. Airy, Maryland

On September 8, 2022, Nancy L. Kornick, 84 of Mount. Airy, Maryland passed away peacefully in her sleep.

She was born on May 4, 1938, to Frank and Mildred Walker of Fulton, Maryland. As a child she regularly attended Sunday School at Emmanuel Methodist Church in Laurel, Maryland, becoming a full-time member as an adult.  She was a proud graduate of Howard High School class of 1956.

In her free time, Nancy enjoyed watching and feeding the birds in her yard with a special passion for bluebirds and hummingbirds.  Nancy busied herself by volunteering at her children's school and would always have a sheet cake prepared for any occasion that would arise.  She used her green thumb to grow vegetables to be canned, submitting them to be judged at the Howard County Fair.  Holidays were always a special time for her as she loved to prepare large meals for her family which always included a huge assortment of homemade pies and cookies.

Later in life, Nancy and her husband Eugene relocated to Mount. Airy Maryland to enjoy their retirement.  She loved when company would drop in especially when it was one of her six grandchildren.  She enjoyed social events in her neighborhood, including luncheons, dinners, and Christmas parties.

Nancy is survived by husband Eugene R. Kornick, children, Crystal L. Donohue, Marion H. Cavender Jr. “Marty” (Paula), and Christopher M. Kornick (Shannon), six beloved grandchildren, Andrew and Alexis Donohue, Brandon and Grant Cavender, and Emma and Loftin Kornick.  She was predeceased by her husband, Marion H. Cavender Sr., Son-in-law, Charles Donohue,  sister, Peggy Moynihan, brother, Gordon Walker, and her beloved pet corgi, Lucy.
