Michael Bonsal, 63, passed away on February 5, 2025, in Highland, Maryland. He was born on March 19, 1961, in Baltimore, Maryland.
Michael, known to many as Mikey, found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a deep appreciation for nature and spent countless hours birdwatching, often admiring the birdhouses lovingly built for him by his Uncle Ron. His mornings were marked by a cherished routine—feeding the birds before taking his daily walk to Boarman’s Market for his morning coffee. Along the way, he would greet familiar faces and exchange warm hellos with those working there. On his return home, he made sure to greet the staff at Oaklawn as well.
A devoted sports fan, Mikey enjoyed watching the Washington Capitals and the Baltimore Orioles and never missed football Sundays. He also had a passion for collecting CDs and could often be found playing tennis or cornhole. Even the simple act of cutting the grass brought him great joy.
For the last 23 years of his life, Mikey was lovingly cared for by his sister, Tracy, in their family home. He valued time spent with her and her husband, Glenn, as well as his nieces and nephews—Alexandra (and husband Mehr), Christian, Madison, and Tyler—and his great-nephews and great-niece — Carter, Greyson, and Penelope. Mikey truly treasured spending his time surrounded by family, especially at family gatherings, where he could spend time with his cousins.
Mikey had a deep love for Highland and its community. His presence will be missed by those who knew him and shared in his daily routines. May his memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Mikey is pre-deceased by his mother Grace Bonsal and his father Charles Bonsal. He is survived by his sister Tracy Price (Glenn), his nieces Alexandra Dhillon (Mehr) and Madison Price, his nephews Christian Laidley (Jennifer) and Tyler Price, and his great-nephews and great-niece, Carter Dhillon, Greyson Dhillon and Penelope Dhillon.
