Matthew Thomas Meehan

On Saturday January 15th 2022, of Ashton MD, passed away at his family home. Matthew was born in Washington DC on Feb 13th 1987. Son of Jim and Cindy Meehan, he graduated from Sherwood High School with the class of 2005. In high school matt was a 4-year wrestler and also played football. After graduation Matt attended Salisbury State University before moving on to pursue other vocational interests to include landscaping, carpentry and other maintenance positions before joining Montgomery County Public Schools as a member of the building service team at Flora Singer Elementary School. Most recently, he was excited to be selected for a full-time position at his alma mater, Sherwood High School. Outside of work, Matt enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed playing golf, fishing and going to the casinos. He was passionate about his beloved sports teams, the Washington Redskins and the Baltimore Orioles and enjoyed countless hours engrossed in movies and documentaries.  Matt was an avid reader of the Washington Post, Time and Rolling Stone magazines and he was always happy to share his perspective on any number of topics. He will long be remembered for his smile and wit, his generosity, his strong convictions and his kind and sweet personality by the many friends he made and lives he touched. Matt is survived by his brother Daniel Meehan, grandmother Barbara Denney, Uncles Tobin Denney (Jim) and John Meehan (Candace). He is preceded in death by paternal grandparents Walter R and Irene Meehan, Maternal Grandfather Roger P Denney, Uncle Thomas J Meehan, Cousin Mary Lou Broderick and faithful dog Kobe.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Matt’s name to the Olney Boys and Girls Club Scholarship Fund. Rest in peace Matt, you are in our hearts forever.
