Mary Lou Poe, 83, died on June 1, 2026, following a brief illness. Mary was born in Dresden, Ohio, the daughter of Dudley and Betty Boyer. She lived her early years in Dresden and Pontiac, Michigan before moving to Laurel, Maryland at the age of 6. Mary graduated from Laurel High School in May 1961 and started working at Citizens National Bank.  Mary married her childhood sweetheart, William Hubert Poe, in September 1961 and they made their home in Howard County, Maryland. After the birth of their two children, Mary chose to stop working and be a full-time homemaker. As a family, they enjoyed camping, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She instilled in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren the importance of family and friends. Mary ensured they grew up knowing the love of God our Father and how we should live our lives loving our neighbor as ourselves. Her smile, calm demeanor, strong faith and love for all left an imprint on everyone she met.

Mary is survived by her daughter Donna McKenzie and husband James, son William (Billy) Poe and wife Amiee; 8 grandchildren: Katlin, Greg, Jessica, Amanda, Gene, Jacob, Cody and Casey; 4 great grandchildren: Mackenzie, Gage, Levi and baby McKenzie; brother Clark Boyer and wife Sandra, sister-in-law Sandy Boyer, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. She is preceded by her parents, her husband Hubert, her brother DeWitte Boyer, brother and sister-in-law, Phil and Betty Poe and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends may call at Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville,P.A., 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, Maryland on Friday June 12, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome to proceed to the interment at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 2150 Mt. View Road Marriottsville, MD and then join the family for a reception at the Circle D Farm, 15535 Carrs Mill Road, Woodbine MD.
