Mary Catherine Belgard

Mary Catherine Belgard of Jessup, Maryland (formerly of Highland, Maryland) passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on Thursday, July 25, 2024.  Mary was born October 17, 1928, in Washington, DC to the late John “Dickie” Hammond and Emma Hammond.  She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, John Belgard, Sr.; her brothers, James Hammond, Teddy Hammond and Johnny Hammond; her sisters Dorothy “Dot” Nowell, Anna Greenlee and Emma Hammond; and her granddaughter, Lindsey Belgard.

Mary loved gardening, quilting, painting, traveling and watching old movies.  She was an avid reader, and she loved the challenge of the weekly crossword puzzle in The Washington Post!  But most of all, she loved spending time with her family and her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her children, Jennifer Beard (Stephen), John Belgard, Jr. (Marta), Donna Wade (George) and David Gregory Belgard; three grandchildren, Mary Catherine Lewis, Sara Fox (Chuck), and Andrew Beard (Marcy); and five great grandchildren, Catherine “Lexi” Lewis, Brittney Morris, Isaac Fox, Grace Fox, and Miles Beard.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
