Martha T. Baker

Martha T. Baker, age 79 of Laurel, MD, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the Brooke Grove Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Sandy Spring, MD. She was born on August 23, 1944, in Washington, DC, daughter of the late Jesse O. Tanner and Marguerite E. (Middleton) Tanner.

Martha grew up in Hyattsville, MD where she graduated from Northwestern High School and attended the University of Maryland. She enjoyed a career as a real estate agent for more than 40 years.  Prior to her career in real estate, she worked for the Suburban Trust Bank.  Martha was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend.  She will be dearly missed by all that had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Anne Baker. She is survived by her son, Craig Baker (Denise) of Olney, MD; her brother Donald Tanner (Brenda) of Vienna, VA; her grandchildren: Lauren Baker and Tate Baker; and numerous extended family members and friends whom she all considered family.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at the Saint Jerome Catholic Church, 5205 Forty-third Avenue, Hyattsville, MD, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will immediately follow the service at the Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, MD.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Martha’s memory to the Saint Jerome Catholic Church, at 5205 Forty-third Avenue, Hyattsville, MD or at www.stjeromes.org .
