Maria Dolores Creel

September 28, 1950 — March 20, 2024

Silver Spring, Maryland

Maria Dolores Creel, 73, passed away on March 20, 2024, while surrounded by her family. Dolores graced this world on September 28, 1950, born to her beloved parents Alexander and Lucy Pelan in Takoma Park, Maryland. She was the fourth of six children and the first of her siblings born in the United States after her family immigrated from Ireland.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her cherished husband, Donald James Creel, a steadfast companion since their school days, evolving from childhood friends to high school sweethearts, their bond enduring until her final moments; her children Caroline Duplantier, Molly (Jason) Michaelson, Matthew (Kathleen) Creel and Ryan Creel; grandchildren Shavonne, Shannon, Crishana, Christian, Colin, Lucy, Liam, Fiona and Roisin; great grandchildren Eset and Prince; siblings Rosemary Farmer, Brendan Pelan, Patricia Ulrich, Maureen Grant, and Marian Peders; as well as loving extended family and many friends.

Dolores was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and longtime parishioner of Saint Louis Church. She dedicated years of service as an administrator to St. Louis School in Clarksville, Maryland, a radiology technician at Montgomery General Hospital in Olney, Maryland, and served at Loyola College of Maryland’s Pastoral Counseling Office, and finally Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab (APL) in Columbia, Maryland.

Above all, Dolores epitomized the virtues of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and dear friend. Dolores was a devoted caregiver to all - family members, friends, strangers, pets, and plants alike. She held her Irish heritage dear and found solace in her unwavering commitment to her Catholic faith.

Dolores was reunited in eternal peace with her parents and other departed loved ones, where she shall find solace in the arms of Our Lord, Jesus Christ.
