MARGARET “MARGY” KUEHLING

On November 13, 2024, Margaret Kuehling passed away at home in Fulton, Maryland. She was a great wife, mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Margy was born on September 18, 1934 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey to Margaret and Warren Chase.  They moved to Maryland when she was a young child but she spent many summers in New Jersey with her maternal grandparents and aunts.  She attended St. Michael’s Catholic School and Holy Names Academy in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Margy married Robert “Bob” Kuehling on November 7, 1953.  They moved to Silver Spring, Maryland, not far from her parents. She became a mother to her three children and worked several jobs before becoming a purchasing agent at the USUHS (Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences) in Kensington, Maryland from where she retired.

Margy and Bob started the RV life in 1977.  They met many lifelong friends through their extensive travels and were active in two RV clubs.  Margy talked often about their travel adventures.  They even spent many weeks some summers working at a state park in Alabama. They retired from the RV life in December 2016.

Margy and Bob moved to Colony Cove in Ellenton, Florida in 1992 to be closer to her parents who lived in Sarasota, Florida.  They lived in Ellenton until August 2019 when they returned to Maryland due to Bob’s illness.

Margy loved to socialize with her many friends—both in Maryland and Florida.  She and Bob joined a duckpin bowling league in Maryland to which they belonged for many years.  She enjoyed going out to lunch and dinner often with friends, playing cards, going to the theater, and going to the movies. In Colony Cove, she joined line dancing and Hobby Club and went on many bus trips.  She volunteered at the Arthritis Foundation in Bradenton.  She enjoyed playing games with the great-grandkids back in Maryland and belonged to a senior ladies church group in Fulton.  She especially enjoyed hanging out with her family.  But her lifelong love was playing Mah Jongg—she played with several groups both in Maryland and Florida.  Her rheumatoid arthritis may have slowed her down but did not stop her.

Margy is survived by her children—Leslie Krainak (Michael), Lorrie Ryan (William) and Robert “Rusty” E. Kuehling Jr.—by her grandchildren:  Daniel Krainak (Linda), Diane Reider (Brad), Megan Ryan (David Gass), Ann Marie Zeruto (Ed), Colleen Sumner (Zachary), Kerry Potolicchio (Michael), Molly Diaz (Tezcatli), Grace Kuehling, Shawn Kuehling and Maggie Kuehling—and by her great-grandchildren—Frances, Charlie and Joan Krainak; Lettie and Mac Reider; Maria Zeruto; Perry and Rose Sumner; Wynne and Daphne Potolicchio; Alexander and Celia Itzel Diaz; and Amelia Kuehling.

Margy is predeceased by her husband, Robert Kuehling, and her parents, Warren Chase and Margaret (Damitz) Chase.

Mom, we will miss you.
