Manolo B. Macatangay

Manolo Balina Macatangay passed peacefully on November 21, 2022 surrounded by his family. Born on April 25, 1947 in Bolbok, Batangas City, Philippines to Andrea (nee Balina) and Moises A. Macatangay, “Lolo,” as he was called by his many cousins, grew up under the watch of his family. His early passions were basketball, mahjong, and sabong, and he continued to participate in these activities even after graduating from Far Eastern University where he met the love of his life, Aida (Adelaida nee Perez). By way of Saudi Arabia, “Manny” settled in Maryland where he welcomed his two children, Regina Ann and Rebecca Dawn. He worked as a mechanical engineer, eventually retiring from Bethlehem Steel in 2010. He will be remembered for his charisma, always joking with his Batangas High School Class of 1963, his intelligence, always knowing when to stop betting, and his love of his family, attending every main event for his wife, children, and grandchildren. His laugh and smile will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his wife, Aida, his children Ann and Dawn, his grandchildren Juan Moises and Arianna, his brothers Jimmy (Tess) and Cecil (d. Auring), sister-in-law Susan, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anding and Isis, and his beloved brother Lito.

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at the Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A., 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Celebration of his life will continue with a Funeral Mass at St. Louis Parish Church in Clarksville, MD on Monday, November 28, 2022 at 10:00 AM followed by interment at St. Louis Cemetery in Clarksville, MD.
