Louise Marie Mannion, age 94, passed away peacefully in Laurel, Maryland on February 25, 2026.
Born on May 19, 1931, in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Ralph and Rose (Guarna) Andracchio. Louise’s life journey took her from Mount Carmel to Neuves-Maisons, France; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Hagerstown, Maryland; Emmaus, Pennsylvania; and ultimately Laurel, Maryland – where she continued to build community wherever she lived.
Louise devoted her professional life to nursing as a registered nurse, primarily in obstetrics and gynecology. She had a special passion for teaching childbirth classes in the many communities she called home, guiding and supporting countless families through some of life’s most meaningful moments. She retired in May 2003 after a long and compassionate career dedicated to caring for others.
A lifelong and devoted member of the Catholic Church, Louise dedicated many years of service to her parish communities. Her faith was a steady foundation in her life and an example to those around her.
Above all, Louise was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Nothing brought her more joy than her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Bill Mannion; her son, William Mannion; her daughter, Mary (Mannion) Smith; her brother, Vincent Andracchio; four cherished grandchildren – Michael Smith, Christopher Smith, Lauren Smith, and Jennifer Smith; and two treasured great-grandchildren, Michael Smith and Mack Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Rose (Guarna) Andracchio, and her brother, Charles Andracchio.
Louise will be remembered for her kindness, steady strength, and dedication to her community. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, faith, and deep devotion to family that will continue through the generations.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Louis Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 10:00 am.
