Lisa Jeanette Rose Byington, age 59 passed through the Veil of mortality on 17th May 2026 in Olney Maryland. Born 21st January 1967 to Joan Maureen (Rose) Witt in South Hampton, England. She moved to the US when her mum married Carlyle Owens Byington, who adopted her as his own. She lived on Ft. Meade for 8 years, then the family moved to Laurel where they lived for almost 40 years. After her parents passed, she moved in with her sister’s family and they moved to Brookeville, Maryland about a year and a half ago. Though she loved Laurel, she fell in love with Brookeville instantly. The quieter pace of life, the rolling farm lands, and scenery and wildlife provided much solace to her. She loved nature. She loved animals, having over 50 pets throughout her life, Lisa loved and cared for and cherished each bird, each bunny, each gerbil, hamster and cat. They were all a huge part of her life!

Lisa’s first paying job was babysitting for neighbors and friends. She adored children. Though she had only been engaged once, Lisa never married or had children of her own. But she was a second mother to her nephews. It’s hard to say who adored who more. She was very close to them. Her second paying job was in retail, then she had her own house cleaning business, after which she was a caregiver to her mum for ten years. She was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in August 2022. She had a long and difficult fight. She never gave up, fighting to the very end. The doctors and nurses at the St. Agnes Cancer Institute were all nothing short of amazing in the care they gave her. She loved them like they were family.

Lisa was a live long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she served her entire adult life in the primary (children ages 18 months to 11 years.) Lisa cherished each child she taught. Serving in the primary was one of her life’s joys. She has a strong testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ. Her testimony was her strongest foundation, which helped her get through her battle with cancer.

Lisa is survived by her sister and best friend, Rachael (Byington) Nuzzaco (Thomas Nuzzaco), nephews Christopher Arballo Jr., Adam Arballo, Stephen Buzzaco, Samuel Nuzzaco, brother Dale Byington, Auntie and cousins, and one uncle. Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, Joan Maureen (Rose) Byington, stepfather Caryle Owens Byington, nephew Joesph Caralyle Byington and niece Kathryne Amy Nuzzaco, along with aunties, uncles, and grandparents.

Services will be held on Friday 29th May 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 17700 Old Baltimore Rd, Olney MD with a visitation at 10:30am in the Primary Room, and the service to follow at 11:00am in the chapel. Followed by burial at the Linthicum Chapel Cemetery in Clarksville Maryland.

The obituary was lovingly written and submitted by her sister.
