Joan Olivia Silbermann

Joan Olivia Silbermann, a longtime resident of Laurel, passed away on Monday February 8, 2021 at the age of 76. She was born on June 27, 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Olivia (nee Spielmann) and Joseph Nash. She was the widow of Richard Alexander Silbermann who passed away in 2017 after 47 wonderful years of marriage. She was also the widow of James Frazee who passed away in 1968.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her sister Jean Nash who died when they were children.  She is survived by her loving children Jim Silbermann and his wife Joanne; Jean Simmons and her husband Derek; Andrea Apshago and her husband Bernie; and her cherished grandchildren Matthew, Katie, Chloe, Alex, and Jordan.

Joan was a life force. A dedicated wife, mother and volunteer - she touched so many lives. Some of her greatest loves were spending time with her husband, her children, her grandchildren and her so many friends. She loved hosting parties, entertaining at her beloved beach house in Delaware, traveling on adventures with Richard and friends.  She truly had a zest for life and will be so dearly missed.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029 on Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 1:00-3:00pm. Funeral Service and Interment are Private. Due to the current pandemic, the family wants to encourage everyone to stay safe and certainly understands if you are unable to attend this gathering.  The family is anticipating having an event to celebrate Joan’s life at a time when the pandemic is better managed.
