Jeanette Flavia Schoppet, 83, passed away peacefully on the morning of March 24, 2025, in Clarksville, Maryland. Born on September 19, 1941, in Manayunk, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was the beloved daughter of Anthony Schufreider and Maria Schufreider (née Hendricks). Jeanette shared 63 joyful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Charles William Schoppet Sr., building a life centered on love, faith, and family. A longtime member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Landover Hills, Maryland, she lived her values through service and devotion to those around her. Jeanette is lovingly remembered by her children: Charles Schoppet Jr. and his wife Marilyn; Mark Schoppet and his wife Roxie; Christopher Schoppet and his wife Rhonda Moore; and Theresa Graham and her husband Brian. Her five grandchildren—Stephanie Schoppet, Rebecca Schoppet, Melissa Schoppet, Cecilia Graham, and Anthony Graham—were the light of her life and brought her endless joy. She is also remembered by her sisters Anne Fiedler and Elizabeth Belfer; brother-in-law George Schoppet; nieces Denise Fiedler Corsiglia and Anne Marie Fiedler-Turner; and nephew Albert Fiedler. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents as well as her sisters Cecilia Schufreider and Sister Celine (Mary Schufreider). Creative at heart, Jeanette found fulfillment in knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, drawing, and listening to music. Yet it was traveling with family and spending time with her grandchildren that brought her the deepest happiness. One especially treasured memory recalls the day a little gray kitten followed Jeanette’s grandchildren home. Her grandson instantly named the kitten “Angel,” enchanted by its soft fur and gentle purr. The children pleaded to keep it—and true to Jeanette’s loving spirit—she welcomed Angel into the family without hesitation. It was a perfect reflection of who she was: someone whose compassion embraced not only animals but anyone in need of kindness or belonging. A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on April 10, 2025, at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church located at 8300 Old Columbia Road in Fulton, Maryland. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM. In honor of Jeanette’s memory, memorial contributions may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor ( https://littlesistersofthepoor.org/ ), Support Our Aging Religious ( https://soar-usa.org/ ), or the Amyloidosis Foundation ( https://www.amyloidosis.org/ ). Her warmth lives on through those who were fortunate enough to know her. May her memory bring comfort and inspiration to all who carry her love forward.
