Gloria Dale Nichols

Gloria Dale (Sisson) Nichols, 86, of Clarksville, Maryland, died on Wednesday, October 20, 2021.

She was the devoted, loving wife of over 66 years to James (Jim) Nichols.

Dale, as she was called by family and friends, was the daughter of the late Frederick & Mary Sisson.  Born on August 2, 1935 in Laurel, Maryland, she attended Clarksville High School where she first met Jimmy and then went on to be the 1st graduating class from Howard High School.  After graduation, she worked as a secretary at the University of Maryland Engineering Department.  She married in February, 1955 and transitioned to become a homemaker and loving mother to three children.  She and her husband also owned and drove school buses in Howard County for many years.

She was a member of Linden Linthicum United Methodist Church in Clarksville, Maryland where she and Jim attended for many years.

Surviving is her husband, James (Jim) Nichols; Daughter Robin Nichols Cooney and husband, Michael; Daughter Beth Gunter and fiancée, Steve Patrick; Son, James Mark Nichols; Grandchildren Jessica Ebersole, Sara Nichols and Thomas Nichols.

She is preceded in death by her sister Mary Sue Tinetti.

Interment of ashes will be held privately at St. Mark’s Cemetery, Highland, Maryland.
