Geraldine "Gerry" P. Schuetze

Geraldine (“Gerry”) P. Schuetze (89) of Woodstock, Maryland, died January 23, 2019.

Born on November 6, 1929 in Green Spring, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Paul Ercy Powers and Mary Thelma Seifert.

Gerry was raised in Frostburg, Maryland and then relocated to Washington, D.C. after high school to attend Strayer Business School.  Following her schooling at Strayer, Gerry began a long and distinguished career with the Federal Government. The last 35+ years of her tenure with the government were spent working directly for the Chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. She retired from the government in 1996 at age 67.

She was the beloved wife of 56 years to the late Norman E. Schuetze.  She is survived by three daughters, Debra Long and husband Wayne of Laurel, MD, Diane Farrow and husband Timothy of Cary, NC and Donna Edmonds and husband Scott of Ellicott City, MD, her grandchildren Kyle Ramsay and wife Emily, Karen O’Brien and husband Joseph, Caitlin Long, Christine Long, Kevin Farrow, LeighAnn Rutkowsky and husband Adam and step-grandchildren, Whitney Krapf and husband Jim, Erin Edmonds and Gregory Edmonds, and her great grandchildren, Adeline Ramsay and Dean O’Brien.

Gerry loved spending time with her children, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren!  She also enjoyed traveling and treasured all of the many friendships she had made over the years.

The family will receive friends at the Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A., 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029 on Friday, February 1, from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  Services will be held at Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A. on Saturday, February 2 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment immediately following at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 2150 Mount View Road, Marriottsville, MD.  Please join us for a luncheon immediately following the burial at the Waverly Woods East Condo Club House, 11035 Chambers Court, Woodstock, MD.
