Gennaro Cibelli, 74, of Dayton, Maryland passed away on February 1, 2022.
He was born in 1947 to Ernesto Cibelli and Eugenia Calderone in Guayaquil, Ecuador. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 35 years, Elaine, "the Mama".
He is survived by his three sons, Rev. Fr. Ernest W. Cibelli, Mr. Vincent J. Cibelli, and
Mr. Peter F. Cibelli, Peter’s wife Mrs. Sarah Cibelli, and their children Olivia and Beau.
Beloved Papa, Nonno, and Elderly Pal, Gennaro was a pious (even if imperfect) Catholic, parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Church, and prestigious Knight of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. He proudly served his country (USA, not ITALIA) in the USN for four years active duty then 22 as a reservist. He was a retired employee of the STATE, specifically the Defense Intelligence Agency, and is proud to have played a small role in the toppling of the Slave Empire.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 3, and Friday, February 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home, 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029.
From 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church, 12500 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029, immediately prior to the Funeral Mass.
Family and friends are invited to pray for the repose of his soul and then offer their favorite “insights” on G. Cibelli at 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 4, 2022, at the Donaldson Funeral Home by sharing brief (5 minutes) family friendly memories. It will be TOP.
The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at St. Louis Catholic Church with interment to follow immediately at St. Louis Cemetery on Ten Oaks Road. A catered reception will follow in St. Louis’ social hall, adjacent to the church. His sons would be honored if you would join them for rich meats.
Thank you to all of his family and friends from throughout the years for your friendship to him, your prayers, love, and support. Special thanks to his “battalion” of physicians and nurses who cared for him, especially towards the end.
