Francis C. Kitzmiller, 92, passed away at his home in Dayton, Maryland on Sunday, November 3, 2024.
Born in Cumberland, Maryland November 15, 1931, to the late Clifton (Bud) and Margaret (nee Ritter), he was the youngest child who excelled as a high school athletic at LaSalle High School. Prior to marrying his bride of 70 years, Carroll Borden, he was active military in the United States Air Force until his honorable discharge in May of 1954.
While Frank spent his engineering career at Naval Service Weapons Center until his retirement in 1986, Frank and Carroll raised their children eventually settling in Dayton, Maryland where they built their home in 1961.
Frank will be remembered for his love of his family, service to his community and devotion to God. While raising his children he was active as a CYO Basketball Coach for St. Louis Church, Howard County Youth Football and Softball. He continued his own love of sports by participating in Maryland Senior Olympics in both softball and basketball into his Eighties. As a parishioner at St. Louis Roman Catholic Church, Frank served his community on numerous committees included adoration, school maintenance, and chairman for the Clarksville Picnic for decades. The impact of his dedication and hard work is most reflected in his service to the food pantry. Frank and Carroll’s dedication to such a worthy cause was recognized by FISH of Howard County. Frank made it his mission to organize and stock the local food pantry so no family would be hunger.
Frank was preceded in death by his son Gregory, and siblings Sheila Shore and Diane Bachman. In addition to his adoring wife Carroll, he is survived by his children, Christopher (Susan) Kitzmiller, Lynne (Brad) Jones, Jeffrey (Lisa) Kitzmiller, grandchildren Ben Jones, Matthew (Jessica) Jones, Rebecca (Shawn) Legambi, Amanda (Kirk) Bristol, Jessica (Kyle) Koehler, and Lucas (Jennifer) Kitzmiller. His blessings also included great grandchildren, Carter, Lincoln and Maddox Bristol and Grace and Nora Jones.
A Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm on Thursday November 7, 2024 at Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A., 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, November 8, 2024 at St. Louis Church, 12500 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville.
