Flora Schuck Strub

Flora Schuck Strub, aged 88, passed away Saturday June 14, 2025. She was born near Washington DC and lived in the city for her first 22 years. He father was George Schuck, and her mother was Flora Kurz.

She married Frederic Strub at age 22, and they lived most of their lives in Maryland. They had 2 children, Linda and Richard, 5 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

Flora LOVED her church! She and her late husband, Frederic, were faith-filled Catholics their whole lives. For a long time, they were part of the daily Mass community. They also gave out communion (and many kind words) weekly to the residents of Lorien, a nursing home in Columbia MD. Mom continued this service even after Fred passed away.

Flo was quite athletic. She played golf 2-3 times every week and loved to go on long walks. She even took a walking vacation in England with her son, Richard, where they walked 10 miles every day! When they lived Cheltenham, England, Flo and Fred fell in love with horseback riding. So, they eventually bought a home with grazing land and several horses which they rode and cared for over 15 years.

Flo was also artistic. She painted pictures occasionally, but her favorite activity was decorating her home. She painted, wall papered, stained woodwork, and made curtains. Sometimes she loaned out her talent to her daughter, Linda, whose home reflects Flo’s sewing skills and excellent taste. When Flo became an invalid 10 years ago, she continued her artistic flair by making greeting cards with colored pencils.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Jennings, and her son, Richard Strub.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederic, who died in 2006.

Family and Friends may visit Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029, on Wednesday, June 25th, 2025, from 2:00pm-4:00 pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm. A Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 26th, 2025 at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi, 8300 Old Columbia Rd, Fulton, MD 20759 with interment to follow at St. Louis Cemetery.
