On January 31, 2020, Erica L. Blouin, 36, of Sykesville, Maryland passed away after a 16 month fight with cancer. She was born on November 10, 1983 to the joy of Joseph Blouin and Lauren Stahl in Takoma Park, Maryland. Erica was the first born of two daughters. Erica attended K-8 at St. Louis Catholic School in Clarksville, Maryland before attending Glenelg High School. After high school graduation, Erica joined the United States Navy. She served on an aircraft carrier before being transferred to the USS James E. Williams, a Navy destroyer, where she served as a sonar system technician achieving a rank of Petty Officer Third Class. Upon Honorable Discharge, her experience followed her to New Orleans, Louisiana where she attended technical school and worked on civilian ship sonar systems. Erica moved back to Maryland in 2014 where she started working for Thales defense contractor. She was sent to France where Thales originates. During her stay in France she was trained how to repair HMD, HMSD and HUD style military helmet displays. She loved her job and was one of only a few in the U.S. trained to do this job.
Erica’s first love was to travel abroad learning about cultures, especially in Eastern Europe. She also had a love for art, architecture, photography, fitness, the outdoors, surfing and anything to do with water, horses, making various arts and crafts, and dance among many other things. Erica had a huge zest for life, all people and changed many lives. She was taken from us far too soon. Erica was loved by all, in return gave life it’s all to live a great life. She will be missed forever
Erica is survived by her husband Brian Crowe, parents Joseph Blouin and Lauren Stahl, sister Brittany Blouin and half-brother Thomas Stahl.
Family and friends may visit Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A. 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, Md. on Thursday February 6, 2020 from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 8:00pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Louis Catholic Church,12500 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, Md on Friday at 11:00am. Interment is private but a repass will be held after mass at Merriweather Post Pavilion. Donations in her name can be made to the American Red Cross as she loved to help all and will continue to do so through your donations.
