Elsie Lyons

Elsie Katherine Lyons, age 94, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025 in Columbia, Maryland. She was born March 30, 1930 in Laurel, Maryland to Roland and Ethel Park.  She married her eternal love and soulmate, Samuel Francis Lyons, in June of 1948 who preceded her in death in 1997.

Elsie loved to entertain whether it be a celebration, a holiday, card playing or just getting together to laugh.  She was a phenomenal cook – if you left her house hungry, shame on you!   Elsie was always an outdoor girl who loved to be in her yard to bird watch, garden or to ride around on her John Deere tractor.  People who drove by knew her because of her incredible yard.

Two loves of her life were fur-babies – Babes and Molly – Dachshund dogs.

When not on adventures with Sammy, Elsie worked at and retired from V.W. Brown Insurance Company which was originally owned and operated by her cousin.

Elsie always gave selflessly of her self to be a caretaker of her parents, aunts, uncles and her beloved sister, Bessie.  Her life was a living example of Bible verse, Romans 12:13 – “When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them.  Always be eager to practice hospitality.”

Elsie’s sister, Bessie Park, preceded her in death in 2018.  Elsie is survived by Martha (Sue) Webster – the daughter she never had - and her husband Larry and son, Larry Jr. and goddaughters - Tina Rye (sons Colin and Kyler) and Ann Jones (sons Robert and Daniel).

Family & friends are invited to join us in celebrating her life.  Viewing hours will be on Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A., 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029.  A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emmanual Methodist Church in Scaggsville, Maryland.
