Elmer William Travis passed away peacefully in the early morning of December 24, 2022. He was born in Marion, Kentucky to Delmer and Alma Travis. Elmer was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle to his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his wife, Ann, and is predeceased by daughter, Kimberly, brother, Porter, and sister, Rosemary (Travis) Wicklein. He is also survived by two sons James (Annette) and Todd (Stephanie), and six grandchildren Andrew, Robert, Olivia, Ella, Hannah, and Todd Jr. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Elmer was a Mechanical Engineer who held positions at the U.S. Naval Ordinance Laboratory, served as Branch Chief at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Vice President of Operations at McDonnell Douglas (Boeing) and finished out his career as President and Chief Operating Officer at Swales Aerospace.
Elmer was a true gentleman and loyal friend. He enjoyed the outdoors greatly and loved traveling, gardening, hunting, fishing and was an avid reader.
Friends may visit with the family January 4th from 4:00 PM to 7PM at Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A., 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029. A funeral Mass will be held January 5th at 10 AM at St. Louis Catholic Church, 12500 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital .
