Ellen J. Repsher

On the morning of Thursday, February 15, 2024, Ellen Repsher passed away at the age of 94.  After having lived for many years with her son John and his wife Maria in Point Pleasant NJ, she was living with her daughter Karan and son-in-law Bill in Glenelg, MD.  Recently she was in a rehab facility recovering from surgery where she died peacefully in her sleep.

Ellen was born, Ellen Jean Large in Tamaqua, PA on February 21, 1929 to Sylvester Large and Helen Gojdics Large.  She grew up in Pennsylvania and attended Penn State University where she met and ultimately married William (Bill) Repsher who was attending college on the GI Bill.  Ellen and Bill married in 1951 and relocated to Point Pleasant, NJ where they raised five children.  Ellen was a substitute teacher who, when her children were grown, went back to school to obtain her Masters Degree in Library Science.  She served as the Head Librarian for Brick Township High School in NJ for many years until she retired.  Over the years, Ellen was involved in her church, St. Peters Catholic Church in Point Pleasant, as a choir member and as a member of the RCIA team.

Throughout her life, Ellen enjoyed doing needlework and jigsaw puzzles.  She loved anything to do with math and of course loved reading.

Ellen is preceded in death by her husband Bill Repsher and is survived by her sister, Alice, her five children (Marie, Karan, Lynn, Bill and John), her five grandchildren and her eight great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Monday, February 19, 2024, from 5pm to 7pm at Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A., 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD.

A mass will held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at the Shrine of St. Anthony, 12290 Folly Quarter Rd., Ellicott City, MD at 2:30 pm.

Interment will be on Thursday February 22, 2024 at St. Catharine’s Cemetery in Sea Girt, NJ at noon.
