Ellen Mary Kosmowski

On January 13, 2021, Ellen Kosmowski, 82, loving and compassionate mother of two children and six grandchildren passed peacefully from this world.  Ellen was born in 1938 to Thomas Joseph O’Brien and Grace O’Connell in New York City.

Ellen was a member of St Nicholas Catholic Church and the Army wife of LTC Jerome A Kosmowski.  She earned Bachelor’s Degrees from Marymount Manhattan College in Mathematics and Civics.  As an Army wife she lived in many places across the country and world and “Learned how to box things.”   She held many jobs over her career spanning social work in California, University of Maryland teaching English to soldiers so they could get their GEDs in Korea, and Pension Tax Law Review for the Internal Revenue Service where she retired in 1992.

Ellen enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her children, grandchildren, cousins, and friends.  Other hobbies included gardening, interior design, theater, and collecting magazines.

Ellen is survived by her sons Chris and Drew, Daughter-in-law Karen, Grandchildren Corrinne, Zachary, Curtis, Luda, Erin, and Nicholas.  She was preceded in death by her husband Jerome Anthony Kosmowski (1980) and sister Virginia O’Brien (1997).

A visitation will be at the Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville P.A., 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville Md. 21029 on Friday, January 22, 2021 from 10:00 to 12:00 noon where a service will be held at 12 noon. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date
