Eleanor (Christian) Mccausland

Eleanor McCausland (nee Christian), 95, of Columbia, MD passed away on August 20, 2019.  Beloved wife of the late Walter McCausland, devoted mother of Cathy Kelsh (Matt) and Jean Huber (Craig), cherished grandmother of Patrick Kelsh (fiancée Jenn Barden), Daniel Kelsh, Lauren Huber, Lee Huber, Molly Kelsh and Adam Huber.

Eleanor was born on June 2nd, 1924 in Pittston, PA to the late Mary and John Christian.  She graduated from Pittston High School and went to work in Washington D.C. for the Department of War for the duration of World War II.   She continued working as an executive secretary in Washington D.C. for 18 years in both the public and private sector until she married her husband, Walter McCausland, in 1959.

Eleanor has lived for 52 years in Columbia, MD where she devoted her life to raising her daughters and volunteering with various organizations including Girl Scouts,  the American Red Cross, and St. Louis Catholic Parish, Clarksville.

Eleanor’s love of music was a constant throughout her life.  She was in several choral groups while in Washington D.C.  She was a member of the Columbia Choral Society and the St. Louis Church Choir.  In addition, she infused her home with music and was particularly fond of musicals.

Eleanor was deeply devoted to family including her two daughters and sons-in-law, six grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and loving neighbors.  We will all miss her dearly.

Friends and relatives may visit on Monday August 26 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A., 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD. 21029. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, August 27, 12:30 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Parish, main church. Interment immediately following, Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, Marriottsville, MD.
