Dorothy Surrette

Dorothy (Dotty) A. Surrette, age 90 of Highland, Maryland passed away at Howard County General Hospital surrounded by her family on January 20, 2026.

Dorothy was born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 17, 1935 to loving parents Edward Fidler and Esther Fidler. She was the oldest of 9 children. 

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert (Cy) W. Surrette Sr. and her daughter Kelly Ann MacDonald. She is survived by her daughters Dottie Backer (Tom), Connie Karadimos (Charlie), Sherri Hendrix (Perry) and sons, Bobby Surrette Jr. (Susan) and Eddie Surrette (Karen). 

She adored her 17 wonderful grandchildren and her 29, one on the way, great-grandchildren. They were the light of her life. She referred to them as her special blessings. She had a special nickname for each of them. She was always there for their birthdays and special events. She loved hosting all the holidays at her house.

She is preceded in death by her brother Edward Fidler, two sisters Peg Lewis and Geri DiGiacomo. She is survived by sisters Lori Johnston, Essie O'Donnell, Jacquie Moloney, Micki Rooney and Rose Dolbeare, and countless nieces and nephews who she adored. 

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm at Donaldson Funeral Home of Clarksville, P.A., 12540 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 12:00pm at St. Louis Catholic Church, 12500 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD 21029. 

Interment to immediately follow Mass at St. Louis Cemetery, 5950 Ten Oaks Rd, Clarksville, MD 21029.
