With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Donald Robert Wickesser III on April 10, 2025. Born October 13, 1974, Don was the son of the late Don and Joan Wickesser and the late Dorothy Landon. He was a resident of Finksburg, MD and was employed as the Director of Construction for Schuster Concrete Construction. Don was a member of Sacred Heart Parish Catholic Church.
A devoted husband, an extraordinary father, and a cherished friend, Don left us far too soon, but his gentle nature, kind spirit, and love will remain with us always.
He brought light and joy to everyone around him. Known for his strong work ethic, boundless energy, and playful sense of humor, he had a gift for making everyone feel seen, heard, and loved. Life with him was never dull. He made the ordinary feel extraordinary, and his presence could light up any room.
Don was an avid runner, biker, and swimmer with a strong competitive streak. He successfully completed 23 triathlons and nine Ironman 70.3 triathlon series races which brought him immense joy and allowed him to connect with other athletes. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, hiking, skiing, and spending time at the beach.
But more than anything, Don was deeply devoted to his family. He was the kind of father every child dreams of; present, patient, and full of adventure. His dedication to his wife, Maureen, was unwavering and pure, a bond built on love, laughter, and deep mutual respect. Together, they created a home filled with joy, warmth, and lasting memories.
Don was a true perfectionist. He was one of the hardest workers you’d ever meet; dedicated, driven, and passionate about everything he did. Whether it was his career, a home project, or hosting an unforgettable bash for friends and family, he gave his all, every single time.
He lived life with an open heart and a fearless spirit, embracing each day with a sense of wonder and gratitude. Though his time with us was far too short, he filled every moment with love, joy, and meaningful experiences.
Don’s family was everything to him. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Maureen E. Wickesser, his beloved daughter Claire E. Wickesser, a brother Jon Handiboe, sisters Debbi Compton and Dawn Jennings, nephews Tyler Handiboe, Brandon Jackson, Rusty Compton, and Miles Compton, and a niece McKenna Compton, as well as, countless friends and extended family who adored him.
We will miss him every single day, but we will honor his memory by living life the way he did, fully and with endless love.
